DTE Term 2 Reflection

This term I learnt how to create a game using an app called Gamefroot this app used some of the basic game design such as basic platforming. This app helped me learn how to code basic movement skill and how to change the controls. I enjoyed using the the gamefroot app to help me design a suitable game for school

I look forward to making robots next semester in DTE 

I would like to do some 3d printing  in DTE. I want to make a ball in DTE sometime.

Acid Rain Experiment

Acid rain experiment:

What is acid rain and how does it form

Acid rain forms from the pollution that factories make and then it dissolves into the clouds and when it rains the rain is slightly acidic and then it starts to destroy the environment. 

Method:

1. set up the petri dish 

2. add 1 spatula of sodium sulfide to weigh boat 

3. add 5 drops of sulfuric acid and quickly put the lid on 

4. watch and take photos                       

    

Observations

The colour changed on everything apart from the calcium carbonate. 

The leaf turned to a red-brown colour.

The litmus paper turned to a red colour.

The universal indicator turned pink which means its a acid.

The apple started changing into a really yellow colour.

Neutralisation Experiment

.Hydrochloric acid-what is a acid. 

A acid is something that eats away at other things (aka) dissolves them. 

The ph of a strong acid is around 1.

There are also lots of other acids.

.Sodium hydroxide-what is a base.

A base is something that can neutralise a acid by changing the ph scale. 

The ph of a strong base is around 14. 

Something that is neutral has a ph scale of around 7.

Step 1.

Add 2 ml (2 cm ish) of NaOH into a test tube.     The way i changed the colours was by adding acid a
                                                                               base and universal indicator.

step 2.

Add 2 drops of Universal indicator.

Step 3.

Add drops of HCI until you reach a neutral ph.       

Refugee assessment

Syrian refugee inquiry

The push factors for Syria are really bad. Syria is a war torn country in the middle of the dessert they constantly have to deal with missile bombings.

The journey to a safe country is long and hard even if the refugees make the journey they still have to get past the border.

The ways of leaving Syria are by boat to get to Greece. They could try to go to turkey or Afghanistan it would be very challenging the challenges they have to face are missile bombings 

The current number of refugees in new Zealand is around 35,000

That have been resettled.Most of the refugees have come from Syria.

Maths

This week we learned about angles and stuff using a app called geogebra. The fist day of using the app we made pictures and had a mess around with a couple features. The next day we used it we were doing lots of angle activities.
